Colliers International the new principal sponsor of PIF annual yachting regatta

The property and construction industry’s charity of choice, the Property Industry Foundation (PIF), is excited to announce the new principal sponsor for its annual Charity Yachting Regatta, Colliers International.

2011 marks the 12th year for the renowned industry race, which will be staged for more than 100 yachts in the fleet – making it one of the largest regattas to be held in Australia. Last year a net total of $300,000 was raised for children’s charities which care for homeless youth.

Rosemary Smithson, Chief Executive Officer of the Property Industry Foundation, said ‘the generous financial support of Colliers International is what helps to make staging the Charity Regatta, and raising such vital funds for young homeless people, possible.

“With an upturn in the economy and their wonderful support, we’re looking forward to an even greater result in next year’s Regatta and beyond,” she said.

“Colliers International is known for its major events. Their other major national landmark event, the Melbourne Cup event at the Opera House foreshore, is an industry favourite, so we’re excited about our partnership.”

John Kenny, Colliers International Chief Executive – Australia, said the partnership demonstrates the business’ continued support of PIF and its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility.

“Following on from the recent re-launch of the Colliers International brand, partnering with PIF for its Regatta is a great fit to our company values of client engagement, community and fun.” he said.

“We recognise the importance of PIF and giving back to the communities in which we live and work. We feel privileged to be in a position as major partner of the Regatta, which is a preeminent event in the property and construction industry’s calendar.”

“We strongly believe that our involvement will strengthen and elevate the day and provide PIF the capacity to stage its most successful fundraising event yet.”

Some 2,000 industry players are expected to take part in the PIF Regatta to be held Friday 25 March 2011 at Middle Harbour Yacht Club.

The funds raised from this charity event will be distributed to PIF’s various building projects, which assist children’s charities in the building and refurbishment of emergency accommodation, education centres and counselling facilities.  PIF supports 20 different youth programs including Sir David Martin Foundation, Salvation Army Oasis, Exodus Foundation, Ted Noffs Foundation, Barnardos and more.

Colliers International replaces Investec Bank which was the principal sponsor of the PIF Regatta for the last three years.
